I have installed 6.1.5 with a MSSQL database. Everything worked fine. The installation logged me in. When the session expired and I hade to login again the login form would not exept the login info I entered during installation.
I know the login info is correct. I´ve checked the database. I tried making a new user, but I couldn´t login with that info either.
The permissions might be wrong. The installation is hosted, so I only have access to CHMOD and RWX file managers. But I have yet to find a guide using CHMOD or RWX.
I´m using myLittleAdmin for SQL Server when tinkering with the database.
Sorry, I've got no experience with (external) hosted environments. The only command I know is CHMOD 777 ;). Hope that the correct permissions will get your issue fixed.

Are the permissions on the file system are set up correctly?
And how did you create the new user? Via SQL Management Studio?
