    Courier setup with iis site

First time I'm using Courier and I'm getting a license issue.

I have a local site set up in IIS and DNS, lets call it http://site1/

I also have a staging site let's call it http://site1.zenagency.com/

I've installed courier on http://site1.zenagency.com and chosen the corresponding licence and all is well.

However, when I try to use the same license on http://site1/ I am being told the license is invalid.

I don't believe I need a separate license for this, but could it be that courier is expecting localhost ?

    Any help much appreciated

I think you need to set it up as site1.local on localhost

    Courier will work with subdomains.

    We use:

    dev.company.com

    staging.company.com

    live.company.com

but site1/ is local, not on my machine but on a dev box in the office

Do I need to take a copy on my machine and then can call it localhost?

    Two steps:
    • Set the bindings up in IIS to inlcude XYZ.local on the dev box
    • Then edit your 'hosts' file on your PC and put the local IP of the dev box against the XYZ.local address.

    Sorry Matt, don't follow :(

http://site1/ is on the dev box in the office

http://site1.zenagency.com is on the live box

I'm trying to merge changes from dev to live

My explanation above assumes that your PC is on the same local network as the dev box.

Basically you just need to find a way of accessing the site under a '.local' address

    Now getting the error

Courier is running in Trial Mode, you can therefore not connect to the repository 'site1.thezenagency.co.uk', which is not on this local machine

This is after re-installing courier on the local site with the correct host http://site1.zenagency.local

I might be wrong but from memory I think Courier will accept a single subdomain eg site1.local but not a nested subdomain like site1.thezenagency.local

Yeah, I think it's the way this box has been configured - when I created http://site1.local/ it dropped it into the local directory but appended the name

I may have to reconfigure the DNS I think

Figured out that the express license only covers same server transfers

After some help from the core team, turns out I hadn't set the license up correctly.

Just in case anyone else gets similar issues, make sure you have the local and dev domains in when setting up and purchasing the license - will save you and the core guys hassle later on!
