Upgrading Bootstrap & jQuery used by Umbraco 7.15.7

    Hello all,

We are currently on Umbraco V7.15.7 and will be upgrading to Umbraco V10 in a few months.

However, before this happens I have been asked to upgrade several "Bootstrap JS" and "jQuery" files that are used in the Umbraco "Back Office".

    Files requiring upgrade:

    • \Umbraco\lib\bootstrap\js\bootstrap.2.3.2.min.js
    • \Umbraco\lib\datetimepicker\bootstrap-datetimepicker.min.css
    • \Umbraco\lib\datetimepicker\bootstrap-datetimepicker.js
    • \Umbraco\lib\jquery\jquery.min.map
    • \Umbraco\lib\jquery\jquery.min.js

Searching through the site I can see references to these files in several locations, including:

    • \Umbraco\Js\loader.dev.js
    • \Umbraco\Masterpages\umbracoPage.Master
    • \Umbraco\Js\umbraco.controllers.js
    • \Umbraco\Js\ umbraco.directives.js

Is it possible to simply update the references (across the solution) to the latest versions of these files?

I imagine there could be potential issues with compatibility or dependencies and I'm not sure if this is workable. Would holding off until the V10 upgrade be a more sensible approach?

If anyone has experience of this, I would appreciate your advice.

    Thank you.

I am interested in this too. I have tried manually bumping to the latest JQuery in the back office, but it breaks on a known backwards compatible issue, I forget the exact details.

We are considering buying XLTS (extended LTS for 7) It would be nice to know if upgrading JQuery to latest version would be a patch if we bought this extra support.
