Azure SQL recommendations

We have an Umbraco 8 based web site running on Azure. The SQL managed service has offered several optimizations regarding table indexes for the Umbraco database. Does anyone have any experience with this type of recommendation? Any best practices when trying to decide if to adhere to them or not?
