How to modify data retrieved with Umbraco Delivery API

This is my first post because I am in dire need of help.
I am trying to implement the Delivery API in one of my projects so I can retrieve a list of items. The list has 95 items and because one item takes over more than 44306 characters, when I retrieve the list I can get only half of the first item.
Do you know how to increase the size of the query result? Or how could I edit the result to only display certain values of each item so it won't take so much space?
