I guess a news letter scenario can be implemented with Contour. I've seen a video tutorial where configurations where made for what seemed to be a news letter application. But more instructions on how to implement a newsletter with Contour would be welcome.
I did a bit of research and I found this solutions:
http://www.nibble.be/?p=63 This is a mail engine package by Tim Geyssens It add's a new function 'send email' to the contex menu. I've tried to configure it, but there where problems with a dll (EO.Web dll) which isn't compatible with the .NET 4.0 framework
Another solution I found is a commercial third party solution still in Beta:
I checked the comments, but after two times blowing my website, I gave up. The comments are a bit confusing. On has to download and install the Essential Objects demo version. If I look in that installed folder for the EO.Web.dll, there are two folders 'NET2.0' and .'NET1.1'. If i use the EO.Web.dll that's in the NET2.0 folder, I get an YSOD when trying to send a email by clicking right in the context menu of the Umbraco backend.
In my search for a newsletter solution, I also stumbled upon 'mailchimp4umbraco' (http://devblog.mediaworkers.dk/blog/mailchimp4umbraco). I created a mailchimp account and did the necessery configurations on Umbraco, which aren't difficult, but my initial enthousiasm was torpedoed very soon after I get this error message when trying to subscribe to a mailing list:
nvalid Mailchimp API Key: 'apikey removed for security' . You are
accessing the wrong datacenter - your client library may not properly
support our datacenter mapping scheme. (104)
Reading the comments on the mailchimp4umbraco blogpage, I'm not the only one getting this error message.
So the search for a good newsletter solution continues ...
After searching half a day for a newsletter solution, I found a working solution by using Lee Kellehers Campaign Monitor Sign Up package (http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/campaign-monitor-sign-up).
good newsletter solution
Hi,
Has anyone implemented a good newsletter solution in Umbraco? Did you use a newsletter package or did you created your own newsletter implementation?
Thanks for your advice,

Seems promising, so I subscribed to the beta program.

Hi All,
After searching half a day for a newsletter solution, I found a working solution by using Lee Kellehers Campaign Monitor Sign Up package (http://our.umbraco.org/projects/website-utilities/campaign-monitor-sign-up).
This package integrates with the CampaignMonitor service: http://www.campaignmonitor.com/
Many thanks also to Richard Soeteman and Roel Snetselaar

Anthony
If anyone need a solution inside of the back office, Newsletter Studio is a package that we've created: http://our.umbraco.org/projects/backoffice-extensions/newsletter-studio
